We will be zig-zagging throughout and although we'll have a general idea of where we're going, the plan is that a lot of destinations will be spontaneous - is this advisable or is a solid plan better? Assumption is that the biggest outgoing would be fuel and camping fees? A very rough (and uneducated) estimate is at £30-50/day for both of us. We have the money but would prefer to do it as cheaply as possible. Not opposed to driving long hours but don't really want to regularly be doing 6+ hours/day. Both traveler's are early 20s and physically fit. I know that's very vague but as I said we're only just really starting to plan this, so any suggestions on nice places will be appreciated! Want to see national parks, lakes, mountains, sea, off the beaten track, that sort of thing. But we would like to visit some major cities such as Florence if possible. Not bothered about capital cities, my reasoning behind this is that it'd be better to go on a long weekend and you can get flights fairly cheap to most European cities and having a car in most is impractical. We're planning on doing it in a Ford Mondeo estate with the seats permanently down for us to potentially sleep in if necessary, we will ideally be camping most nights though. Is this too much for 3 months travel? I'm willing to skip Slovenia/Croatia and just go north from Italy? Or does it need more condensing than that? The main attraction is northern Italy. Initial journey plan is to go anti-clockwise through France, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, then back up through Austria, Czech Republic, Poland then back around via Germany, Netherlands/Belgium, UK. We're still very much in the beginning stages of planning and neither of us have done anything similar to this before so any suggestions/advice at all will be much appreciated. We're starting in Manchester, UK and hopefully setting off early June and arriving back late August/early September. Myself and my girlfriend are planning on going on a road trip around Europe this summer (2016).
